Fonta Santa, situated just 25 km from the capital, Faro, can be found in the area known as the Golden Triangle, which incorporates such prestigious resorts such as Vilamoura, Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Logo. Sitting just east of Quarteira, Fonta Santa is a peaceful rural resort, home to many private villas surrounded by scenic pine woods, yet close to great beaches and the extensive amenities of the nearby resorts. Fonta Santa is also home to a natural spring, its’ waters said to contain healing properties.

Fonta Santa is close to two great sandy beaches, Almargem and Praia do Trafal, both of which are backed by a nature reserve, and flanked by the characteristic red sandstone cliffs, so typical of the Algarve. Also close by is the popular gay beach of Praia do Cavalo Preto (the Black Horse), with its’ blue lagoon and scenic pine trees. Fonta Santa is conveniently located close to Vilamoura, one of the oldest established resorts on the Algarve, and home to a long sandy beach. The vibrant marina in Vilamoura is a hive of activity, filled with smart yachts and fishing boats and the waterfront is lined with bars, cafes, restaurants and shops.

Fonta Santa is a great base for those looking for some peace and quiet in a rural setting, but with all the facilities of the larger resorts nearby. There are countless excellent golf courses in the vicinity, and horse-riding, cycling, shooting, tennis, squash, bowls and go-karting are all available locally. Deep-sea fishing, sailing, waterskiing and wind-surfing can all be found on the nearby beaches, and boat trips around the coast are a popular day trip. Whilst staying in Fonta Santa, experience the upscale dining in Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago, or travel inland to Almancil and try any one of its’ fantastic traditional restaurants. Other towns to visit include Loule, with its’ famous Saturday morning market, and the capital Faro, with its’ quaint Old Town and lively fishing port.
