FlyMonarch the cheap flights carrier has introduced the option to use PayPal to purchase tickets on its website FlyMonarch.com. The move by FlyMonarch, named leisure airline of the year, is said to be the first of its kind as no other European airline offers PayPal as an alternative to debit and credit card transactions.
FlyMonarch managing director Liz Savage said: “Being the first European airline to offer the PayPal payment option is great news for our customers, many of whom are already PayPal account holders, and will help to further streamline our booking process on FlyMonarch.com”.
PayPal general manager of merchant services Cameron McLean said: “We decided to launch with FlyMonarch first as they are clearly innovators in the airline industry, focused on constantly improving the customers’ experience, matching the PayPal ethos.”
The deal is announced as some 28 million adults currently shop online with a 157% increase over the past five years. Cheap flights are also one of the major products bought online. FlyMonarch are one of the UK's major providers of low-cost scheduled flights from bases at London Gatwick, London Luton, Manchester and Birmingham airports. Monarch is also a key supplier of airliners to the tour operating industry.
