Holidays in Ferragudo – Delightful unspoilt fishing village There are many beaches around Ferragudo, both on the coast and on the banks of the river. The main beach at Ferragudo is Praia Grande, which offers plenty of watersports, including windsurfing (a windsurfing school can be found on the beach). A sea wall protects the beach from the strong tides of the Atlantic and numerous boat trips depart from Ferragudo, taking tourists along the scenic coast with its deep caves and amazing rock formations. Many more secluded beaches are accessible from Ferragudo, including Praia de Caneiros and Praia do Pintadinho, and the picture-postcard resort of Carvoeiro is close by. Ferragudo is an attractive, well-maintained village, full of cobbled streets, houses with traditional tiles and chimneys, and a charming village square home to some great bars and cafes, frequented by fishermen and locals. A quayside market in Ferragudo sells the catch of the day, and the picturesque harbour is lined with a selection of fish restaurants.
Holidays in Ferragudo – Close to Portimao Ferragudo is ideally placed to explore the neighbouring towns of the area as well as the range of beaches found all along the coast. Portimao, the second largest town in the Algarve, with its’ bustling port and excellent selection of shops, is just a few minutes drive, and the small Moorish town of Silves, with its’ many historical sights, a few kilometers inland from Ferragudo. The pottery town of Porches is nearby, as is the spa town of Caldas de Monchique.
