Faro Weather - Hot summers with cooling breezes Holidays in the Algarve region of Portugal have long been popular thanks to the mild climate and long hours of sunshine. Average summer temperatures in Faro tend to hover around 26°C (79°F) during the dry summer months of June, July, August and September, rising to peaks of 30°C (86°F) at times during July and August. The hot, sun-drenched summers are tempered by cooling breezes that come in off the Atlantic Ocean. Inland from Faro temperatures rise considerably more during the summer, making it uncomfortably hot. The further east you are from Faro, towards the Spanish border, the longer the sunshine hours you can expect.
Faro Weather - Windier in the west The rule of thumb in the Algarve is the farther west you go, the windier you should expect the weather to be. This means that mid-Algarve Faro is in an excellent position for families to enjoy beach holidays without too much wind. Thanks to mild winters it can still be warm and sunny around Faro, so that tee shirts will be adequate in the midday sun in February, for example, while warmer clothing is recommended for evenings. Winter weather in Faro provides daytime temperatures close to 20°C (68°F) between December and February.
Faro Weather - Rain rare between June and September The Algarve sees most of its rainfall between October and March, while rain is rare between June and September. Generally, the weather in Faro and its region is warm throughout the year, and can even feel sub-tropical at times.
