Eurostar has confirmed that the opening of St Pancras International and the new 186 mph High Speed 1 line from London to the Channel Tunnel has had a strong impact on passenger numbers. During the Easter holidays, it is expected that Eurostar will carry a record 160,000 travellers between London, Paris and Brussels, an increase of over 20% on the previous year.
Eurostar, director of communications, Simon Montague, said: "Since Eurostar moved to St Pancras International, more and more people are realising Eurostar is easier, quicker and greener than flying".
In order to cater for the extra demand over Easter, Eurostar is laying on three extra services with an additional 2,250 seats.
