Eurostar has pointed to environmental issues such as the melting of the glaciers, increasing temperatures and the change in weather patterns as a reason to travel by Eurostar and reduce the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere.
The Eurostar ski train which runs from 22nd December 2007 to 13th April 2008 is said to be the most environmentally friendly choice, as well as having the added bonus of getting passengers to the slopes in style, speed and comfort.
Eurostar has said that a return journey to the French Alps releases 24kg of CO2 per traveller where as a flight from London Heathrow to Geneva, Switzerland releases 191kg of CO2 per person.
When Eurostar moves from London Waterloo to St Pancras International and launches High Speed 1, the ski train will travel at 186mph in the UK and will reduce times in both directions by 20 minutes. The Eurostar ski train travels right into the Alps, opening up another way of travelling to your ski holiday and keeping your carbon footprint low.
