Estartit Holidays – A long-established family favourite
Holidays in Estartit are a long-established favourite with British visitors. Estartit breaks are based in a modern beach resort on a wide bay backed by rugged mountains, on the Costa Brava in the north west of Spain, 28 miles east of Gerona airport. This resort offers something for most tastes and age groups and proves consistently popular with families. It has grown from its fishing village origins while avoiding high rise excess and the resort remains a pleasant place with some character and local flavour. Children here will find plenty to do and will enjoy the local funfair and the waterparks at Lloret de Mar and Platja d’Aro. Estartit offers a wide selection of cafes, bars and pubs and a reasonably lively nightlife scene. Restaurants here include local Catalan cuisine and freshly caught fish along with plenty to satisfy homesick British visitors.

Estartit Beach Holidays – A fine stretch of sand facing an island nature reserve

Holidays in Estartit very much centre on its beach, a fine stretch of sand running for several miles on a wide curving bay. Estartit beach has plenty of space, offers good facilities and has safe conditions for children. An attractive marina forms a focal point and is home to the resort’s more interesting restaurants. A special feature of breaks here is the Islas Medas, a chain of nature reserve islands facing Estartit beach. The Medas Islands are home to varied bird and marine life. The resort is particularly popular with watersports enthusiasts, snorkellers and divers, with several schools offering tuition and scuba diving among the coral reefs. Watersports include windsurfing, waterskiing and sailing. Estartit activities could also include horse riding, fishing and exploration of the more secluded Mediterranean beaches found among the unspoilt rocky coastline of the Costa Brava.

Holidays in Estartit – Plenty of varied excursions

Estartit offers a varied selection of excursions. Daytrips here could include a visit to the attractive historic town of Torroella, the medieval towns of Pals, Peratallada and Monells, the craft shops of the historic town of La Bisbal, the ancient remains at Empuries, the monastery at Montserrat and the Salvador Dali Museum in Figueres. Breaks in Estartit are not complete without a visit to the lovely old Gothic centre of Gerona and could even include a visit to the fabulous city of Barcelona.
