Ellaidhoo Tourist Resort Weather

Ellaidhoo Tourist Resort is located in the northeast corner of the North Ari Atoll, and 40km from the capital city, Male. Known for its exceptional scuba-diving, the region enjoys an ideal location in the warm clear waters of the Indian Ocean, and boasts a tropical climate with plenty of year-round sunshine. Although the region sees constant high temperatures throughout the year, the resort is affected by the two monsoons that blow across the Maldives, which bring both a rainy and a dry season. 

 

November sees the start of the popular tourist season, with the northeast monsoon bringing dry warm weather, and a moderate yet comfortable level of humidity. January and February see perhaps the best conditions of the season, with highs of 30C and up to 9 hours of sunshine each day, and also experience the lowest rainfall of the year - between 60mm - 90mm each month. Night-time temperatures reach 25C - 26C during the winter months, meaning ideal weather for al-fresco dining and evening walks. The sea temperature remains a very pleasant 28C during the winter, with plenty of water sports and boat trips popular.

 

March sees the humidity level begin to increase, and by April the temperature has risen to 32C - the hottest of the year. High humidity continues until June, when the daytime temperature drops slightly to 30C, and by July the humidity has lessened, making conditions slightly more comfortable. Rainfall rises dramatically in May, with the resort seeing 211mm, and the summer months continuing to receive a monthly average of 190mm. There is still plenty of sunshine during the wet summer months, with the resort experiencing at least 7 hours each day.
