Ten Years At Stansted For EasyJet - Thu. 22 May. 2008
EasyJet this week celebrated 10 years offering flights from Stansted airport. The cheap flight provider’s inaugural flight from London’s third largest airport took off almost exactly 10 years ago, on May 21st 1998 under the brand name 'Go', which then merged with easyJet in August 2002, creating one of Europe's largest low-cost airlines.
High oil prices could drive many low cost airlines out of business due to high oil prices, according to easyJet France.
Holidays Taxis has linked up with easyJet to offer transfers on the low-cost airlines website. The transfer company now remains on target to reach its goal of two million passengers in 2008, a feat that would double the size of its business.
EasyJet today issued a warning that the "significantly" higher cost of fuel will cut its profits, a statement which caused airline shares to drop in Thursday morning trading.
Ryanair Halts EasyJet Adverts - Thu. 06 Mar. 2008
After having many of its own adverts banned by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) in the past, Ryanair have now successfully appealed to have some of easyJet’s adverts removed for misleading the public.
EasyJet has plans to redesign its website within the next year in order to increase sales. The new site will make use of existing web 2.0 technologies to ensure that customers can not only book their flights on easyJet.com but also plan their complete holiday itineraries.
EasyJet has continued its rapid expansion but is doing so at a rate which means many easyJet flights are not operating at full capacity. As the low-cost airline today reported a year on year 12.4% increase in passenger numbers to 9.1 million for the last quarter of 2007, easyJet have also confirmed that its profit forecast was unchanged.
The Office of Fair Trading has given easyJet the go-ahead for its proposed takeover of GB Airways. The takeover will not now be referred to the Competition Commission after the OFT ruled that enough "potential competitors" are represented at Gatwick and other London airports, ensuring customers have sufficient competition.
EasyJet Shares Hit By Empty Seats - Wed. 09 Jan. 2008
EasyJet shares dipped 12% yesterday after it was revealed that that no frills airline flew with a greater proportion of empty seats last month.
easyJet has urged the CAA to reject a request by airport group BAA to increase baggage handling charges following the government’s decision to lift the restriction of one piece of hand luggage at 22 UK airports on January 7th 2008.
