EasyJet shares dipped 12% yesterday after it was revealed that that no frills airline flew with a greater proportion of empty seats last month. The shares dropped due to a reported 2.2% decrease in its "load factor" (no of passengers as a proportion of empty seats) for December.
The drop in its load factor is the biggest monthly decline since April marking a year-on-year drop to 78.9%. The airline has also reported a slightly lower rise in passenger numbers for December, up 10% to 2.9 million.
