Holidays in Dubai will have added attraction when a Universal Studios theme park is added to the planned 'Dubailand' holiday resort rapidly emerging in the United Arab Emirates. The park will be called Universal Studios Dubailand and when finished will be the same size as Universal Studios in Orlando. Scheduled to open by 2010, the park is expected to attract up to 5 million visitors a year.
Orlando based Universal Park officials and those from United Arab Emirates announced the Universal Park is to be built in the Arabic vacation land which already features landmark hotels, a giant Mall of Arabia, sport stadiums, museums, golf courses and beaches. Plans are also in place to build a water park amongst other attractions.
Universal will not own or run the theme park but instead will license the company's name, and top attractions, such as Revenge of the Mummy. In this way the deals is similar to the Universal Parks & Resorts in Japan, Spain, and like the new Universal Studios planned in Singapore.
