The north is also home to the Tugela Falls, the worlds' second highest waterfalls, which cascade down from the top of the mountain known as the amphitheatre, due to its' shape, and is one of the most popular hikes in the region. The Central Drakensberg is home to the Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg Park, a World Heritage Site, and the Giants' Castle Game Reserve, a popular attraction for visitors. This region also contains the Bushman Rock Art sites, paintings done by the San people dating back 800 years ago. The Southern region of the Drakensberg is the most remote, home to several nature reserves, and clear lakes and rivers, making it a favorite with fishermen, and the site of he Sani Pass road which leads to Lesotho. Throughout the region an abundance of wildlife can be seen, from oribi, wildebeest, zebra, leopards, hyenas and jackals, to the bearded vulture.
