Divar Island sits just 10km from the capital Panjim, on the banks of the Mandovi River - accessible only by ferry from the mainland. The island experiences a hot tropical climate, and is affected by the monsoon that blows through the state from June to September. The best time to visit Divar Island is during the winter months, when there is plenty of dry weather and glorious sunshine.
Divar Island Weather - Visit during the dry hot winter season
November to March sees the best weather in Divar Island, and is the peak tourist season throughout the whole of Goa. Daytime temperatures hover around 32C - 33C with 9 - 10 hours of daily sunshine, whilst night-time sees average highs of between 21C - 23C. Rainfall is extremely limited in the winter, with November and December receiving 14mm - 23mm, and January and February seeing no rain at all. Conditions are ideal for relaxing by the pool, or taking a scenic boat or ferry ride around the island, as humidity levels remain high but not unbearable. These levels begin to rise in March and continue to be extremely high throughout April to June.
Weather in Divar Island - Summers see heavy rains during monsoon season
May sees the start of the monsoon in Goa, with almost 50mm of rain during the month, rising to a massive 800mm - 900mm in June and July. The rains bring relief from the hot weather, and continue throughout the summer, with between 200mm - 500mm falling from August to September. There are only around 4 hours of sun each day during the monsoon, with day-time temperatures reaching 29C - 30C, but night-time temperatures rising to 25C.
