Diani Weather – Enjoy the tropical sun in Diani
Diani beach is situated just 20 miles south of Mombasa on the east coast of Kenya. A few degrees south of the equator and washed by the gently lapping Indian Ocean, Diani enjoys plenty of tropical sun – an average of over 8 hours each day. Kenya may be famous for its safaris, but this stretch of coast is one of the world’s best destinations for a beach or water sports holiday. Diani’s palm-fringed beach is protected by a coral reef and the sea temperature in the sparkling blue lagoon varies between 25º in August and 29ºC in March and April.

There is certainly plenty of sun in Diani and average daily highs that are never far from 30ºC.  June, July and August temperatures tend to reach 28º or 29ºC respectively, while February and March are the warmest months at 33ºC. Indeed, January to March are generally considered to be the best months to visit, before the so-called long rains come in towards the end of March. For two months or so it is particularly wet, with heavy rain guaranteed in May (although the sun is still warm between downpours). Rainfall during the rest of the year is not very high for a tropical region and there will lots of sun to enjoy and perhaps a bargain for those willing to take a chance on the weather.

Diani weather – Hot sun, warm sea and welcome sea breezes
As you would expect from a resort so close to the equator, the humidity can be high in Diani, particularly from December to April, but this is tempered by the sea breezes. There are two monsoon winds, both of which blow along the coast. These are mild monsoons, although the Kusi, the southerly wind, can get up enough to make things interesting for windsurfers in June and July. Diani’s tropical sun makes this a pleasant destination at almost any time of the year, whether as a place to wash the dust off after a safari or solely as a beach holiday in a tropical paradise.
