Cruise holidays may become cheaper in 2009. Carnival UK chief executive David Dingle has admitted that its cruise brands may be forced to lower prices next year in order to increase demand which has not been as strong.
Oasis Of The Seas Nears Completion - Mon. 24 Nov. 2008
Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the seas – the largest cruise ship ever built – has finally left its shipyard ahead of its official launch in just over 12 months time. The Oasis of the seas, a 5,400 capacity cruise ship will now remain in Finland, where it was built, until it can be fitted out before heading to its new home in Florida.
Carnival To Abandon Ocean Village Brand - Fri. 31 Oct. 2008
Cruise line Ocean Village is to be phased out as Carnival UK reviews its brand portfolio. Starting in autumn 2009, the two cruise ships owned by Ocean Village will be transferred to P&O Cruises Australia brand. The first will be transferred in time for Christmas 2009 and the second a year later.
Royal Caribbean Cancels South America Cruise Programme - Thu. 30 Oct. 2008
Cruise line Royal Caribbean has cancelled its South American cruise programme for winter 2009-10. As an alternative, the Radiance of the Seas cruise ship will be deployed for an extended season of the Mexican Riviera.
Royal Caribbean To Offer Dubai Cruises - Tue. 14 Oct. 2008
Royal Caribbean has announced that the Brilliance of the Seas will be deployed into Dubai in 2010. Starting from January 2010, Royal Caribbean cruises will offer seven night cruises in Dubai, running up until April of the same year.
Carnival Takes Steps To Eliminate Fuel Supplements - Mon. 13 Oct. 2008
The company behind some of the largest cruise lines operating today has announced that fuel supplements for 2010 departures will be eliminated for bookings made after October 31st.

Royal Caribbean Cruises is set axe 400 jobs after reporting lower earnings in the second quarter of 2008. The net income for the second quarter stands at $84.7million, down from $128.7 million for the same period in 2007.
