Costa do Sauipe Things To Do
Exotic beaches
Costa Do Sauipe is one of the biggest and best purpose built tourist complexes in Brazil, created with sun, sea and sand holidays in mind. The beaches are delightful: imagine a typical Brazilian beach with golden sands, clear waters and perfect weather, and you’ve got it. There are seven and a half miles of dune-surrounded beaches complete with coconut palms, naturally-occurring swimming pools and cool fresh water streams running down the beaches to the sea.
Beautiful countryside
The surrounding area is known for its spectacular beauty; waving coconut palms, enormous sand dunes, sparkling lakes and vivid green tropical rain forest. The resort offers a huge array of exciting trips and excursions into the interior of Brazil and along the Bahia state coastline.
The Tamar Project
In 1980 the various turtle species in the local area were almost extinct. The Tamar Project protects the turtles’ traditional egg laying and feeding areas, educates locals in turtle conservation and – best of all – has raised more than two million baby turtles in safety and seclusion. A wonderful place and well worth a visit.
Spectacular wildlife and nature
Costa Do Sauipe is an excellent place for nature lovers and wildlife fans, with unique creatures and sights to see. There is everything from whales and turtles to a vast array of colourful tropical birds, insects and unusual mammals.
Safari adventures
Take a day’s Safari by jeep and explore the wonders of Bahoa State in safety and comfort, complete with an expert guide and eating arrangements. Or take a guided tour around the mangrove swamps; eerie places full of specialised water creatures. There are plenty of river tours up for grabs, taking in the jungle wildlife-packed banks and fascinating rainforest environment. Or go out quietly by night to observe rare sea turtles doing their thing.
Historic Garcia D'Ávila Castle
Garcia D’Avila castle is one of the oldest Portuguese buildings in Brazil, built in the 1500s and the only remaining feudal building in South America.
Excellent windsurfing and watersports
The windsurfing at Costa Do Sauipe is superb, so good that surfing competitions are held here every year. There are plenty of places to kit yourself out and surf schools too. You’ll also find a wide variety of other fun and challenging water sports available.

Visit the party town of Salvador
Costa Do Sauipe isn’t far from the carnival city of Salvador, one of Brazil's best loved holiday destinations. Great for shopping, clubbing, eating and everything else you can think of!
Excellent golf
The course here is one of the most attractive in Brazil… oh, those views! 18 holes, good enough for national and international tournaments. A 300 yard golf driving range, a huge putting green and golfing lessons from trained professionals.
