Our Review of the Costa Dorada...
Undeservedly lesser known with British visitors to Spain, the Costa Dorada offers tremendous variety:  terrific sandy beaches, a wonderful climate, delightful mountain villages and plenty of Catalan character, cuisine and culture. The main attractions are fantastic sandy beaches in lively resorts like Cambrils and Salou, and the delightful coves that make the Costa Dorada more scenically satisfying than the Costa del Sol. Salou is one of the liveliest resorts in Spain and also home to Universal Port Aventura, Spain’s answer to Disneyland Paris.  “As a real theme park addict I can only say Port Aventura exceeded my expectations! We liked the multi-theme idea, and the Dragon Khan roller coaster is simply sensational! We stayed in the park itself and popped into Salou for the beaches and nightlife. A great short break and much sunnier than Disneyland Paris!”

 “We were pleased we chose a hotel in Cap Salou. It’s quite a lot quieter than Salou itself and has some nice little beaches. More of a family sort of place. The kids loved the day trip to Aquopolis in La Pineda, but to be honest it was nice to get back to somewhere relaxing.”

“Definitely a different atmosphere from the Costa del Sol. Nicer beaches and the same great weather. You can get into Barcelona really easily on the train and it’s well worth the trip. Sitges is really interesting too. Loads of character and has some amazing wacky shops. Too much to see in one week so it’s probably back to Cambrils next year. Some great trendy restaurants if you want to splash out! ”
