Costa Caleta - Fuerteventura holidays catering for families
Costa Caleta is the perfect family resort on the beautiful holiday island of Fuerteventura. You’ll find this idyllic Canary Island spot on the east coast of the island, situated a mere 7 kilometres from Fuerteventura airport and 12 kilometres south of the island’s capital Puerto Del Rosario.
Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Spanish Canary Islands, lying south west of Lanzarote. It is 1,730 sq km in size, offering visitors a mountainous interior rising to 2,648 m and striking volcanic scenery to explore by hire car. The town of Costa Caleta is also know by locals as Caleta de Fuste, which means cove of the fishing boat, or El Castillo de Fuste, referring to the nearby 18th century watchtower which looks down on the harbour.
A resort has flourished here thanks to the pretty horseshoe-shaped cove providing holiday-makers with a safe, sheltered place to swim. Families are also drawn to the smart, clean and relatively new apartment developments that have grown up in recent years, supported by restaurants catering for all tastes and budgets. The atmosphere is one of family-friendly fun and relaxation.
If you enjoy hunting for bargains on your way back from the beach, Costa Caleta’s shopping village can be found at Pueblo Majorero, the central plaza, just back from the beach. There is also a harbour and marina to explore.
