Cocoa Beach Things To Do

The Visitor's Complex showcases NASA's exploration in space, and with tours of the launch area, and features such as the Shuttle Launch Experience, an intergalactic gallery and showings of IMAX films, the centre is a major tourist attraction. Lucky visitors can actually get to see a shuttle launch if scheduled, and there are ample viewing points around the whole Cocoa Beach area. Other space-related attractions include an Astronaut Memorial Planetarium and Observatory, and the U.S Astronaut Hall of Fame, where visitors can experience zero gravity.

 

The area has 6 miles of beaches, and is a lively family-friendly resort on Florida's Space Coast, with plenty of facilities, hotels, shops, bars and restaurants. As well as sunbathing and swimming, water sports to try on Cocoa Beach include scuba-diving and snorkelling, kayaking and canoeing, and there are some fantastic deep-sea fishing trips available. 

 

Cocoa Beach is one of the best places to surf on the East Coast of Florida; with the resorts huge waves the major attraction for the many avid surfers who visit, as well as a wide range of surf shops, including the world-famous Ron Jon Surf Shop. The resort is also a popular spot for kite surfing.

 

Like most of Florida, there is plenty of opportunity for a round of golf in the Florida sunshine, and the resort boasts 6 local courses, including Cocoa Beach Country Club, with many more in the surrounding area. 

 

Horse riding and bike rental is available, as is tennis, volleyball and parasailing, and for kids, the resort offers bowling, mini-golf and an adventure park with to go-karting, laser tag and bumper cars. 

 

Cocoa Beach is home to a number of national parks such as Merritt Island Refuge, Blue Spring, De Leon Spring and Tomoka State Parks - all offering a natural setting of preserved wetlands and scrublands, and full of an array of local wildlife and flora, including alligators, bobcats, eagles, kites, herons, tortoises and manatees. There are trails for hiking and fishing, and canoeing is permitted in the lakes, springs and lagoons.

 

Local attractions feature a jungle cruise around an alligator farm, Brevard Zoo, a floating casino cruise and the Botanical Gardens. A trip to Disneyworld, Universal Studios or SeaWorld in Orlando is easily accessible, and Daytona Beach is just an hour away.
