Ciutadella Weather

Cuitadella lies in western Menorca, just a few miles inland, and enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters. Like the rest of the island, the town sees plenty of sunshine all year-round - an average of 315 days of sun each year - and attracts many British visitors throughout the summer holiday season from May to October, as well as during the quieter winter months.

 

May sees pleasant temperatures in Cuitadella, and could be an ideal time for sightseeing and soaking up the history and culture of the region, with an average temperature of 18C and 8.5 hours of sun. June heats up to 20C, and during the height of the summer, the town enjoys an average temperature of 24C, sometimes seeing maximum highs of 28C. During July Cuitadella sees 11 hours of sunshine, with visitors usually heading to one of the many sandy beaches in the area for relaxing sunbathing and water sports. Rainfall is limited during the peak summer months, with 7mm falling in July. September and October still see pleasant temperatures of between 17C - 21C, and 6 - 7 hours of sun each day.  

 

Winters are generally mild in Cuitadella, with January and February seeing the lowest temperatures of 10C, and between 3.5 and 4.5 hours of sunshine. The winter season is the wettest, with October seeing the most rainfall, about 100mm. Menorca is known as 'the windy isle', thanks to no less than eight different winds that blow across the island, with the north wind 'tramontana' sometimes creating changeable weather in Cuitadella.
