General Things To Do Weather
The Town
With its vibrant harbour, old town with its labyrinth of narrow streets, and colourful main squares lined with bars and restaurants, this is an ideal city to explore by foot. The original capital city of Menorca, Ciutadella boasts an array of sights for all visitors, with excellent shopping and dining, and a dominant cafe scene.

Historical Buildings
Ciutadella still displays its Moorish heritage, and is home to plenty of architectural and historical sites such as the 14th century Gothic Cathedral, the Torre de Sant Nicolau, the windmill which is a landmark of the city standing high up on the cliffs, the remains of the fortified walls, and the obelisk memorial. Museums to visit include the Archaeological Museum and the Municipal Museum.

Beaches
Along the coast just a few miles from Ciutadella lie a number of small coves and sandy beaches, such as Cala del Pilar, Cala Morell and Cala Bosch. Water sports available in the area include pedalos, snorkelling, windsurfing, kite surfing, water skiing, sailing, kayaking and parasailing.

Scuba Diving
Scuba diving is available from the harbour at Ciutadella, with a selection of interesting dive sites in and around the area. The rocky coastline hides some great spots, including reefs, caves, caverns and drop offs, which cater to every level of diver, from first-timer to fully-qualified.

Sports
Sports such as tennis, horse riding, biking and paragliding are available, and the island's only golf course, located in Son Bou on the south central coast, is a 30 minute drive. Walkers and hikers can follow one of the coastal trails that pass through several coves and villages, and take in the stunning views out over the Mediterranean.

Boat Trips
The busy port is the departure point for plenty of boat trips, including island tours, ferry crossings to Alcudia in Majorca, and motor boat and yacht charters.

Aquapark
Families looking for a lively day out could head to the local Aqua Centre Water Park, where there is plenty to amuse children of all ages, with facilities including an adventure river, rubber rings, water slides and bouncy castles.

Food & Drink
Sample some delicacies from Menorca in one of the many tapas bars, cafes and restaurants here, especially around the port, which feature plenty of fish and seafood. Local specialities include spicy sausage, crespells (jam tarts) and curado, a cured cheese, and the local tipple - pomada, made from gin and lemon.

Fiestas
Those visiting Ciutadella in June can experience the city's famous San Juan Fiesta, held at the end of the month. Dating back 600 years, the fiesta features medieval horsemen parading through the streets, jousting and performing riding tricks - a very colourful, lively and memorable day out.
