Weather in Chowara - Tropical climate in South Kerala
Chowara is located in South Kerala, and lies on the Arabian Sea. The town enjoys a tropical climate, and, like the rest of Kerala, experiences four distinct seasons throughout the year - winter, summer, northwest monsoon and southwest monsoon - but sees little fluctuation in temperature. Beach-lovers are advised to visit Chowara during the dry winter months, whilst those heading to one of the region's Ayuervedic centres could easily travel during the monsoon months.
 
Chowara Weather - Pleasant dry winter months, January ideal time
January is considered the best month to visit Chowara, with 8 hours of sunshine, an average temperature of 27C and the lowest humidity levels. November sees the start of the winter season, with temperatures reaching a maximum of 31C and an average of 6 hours of sunshine a day, however there is still a chance for showers. January and February see similar temperatures but drier weather and 8 hours of sun each day, with the warm waters of the Arabian Sea reaching 28C. Winter is the driest season in Chowara with an average rainfall of 25mm. Temperatures start to rise in late February and there is increased humidity, with the summer season running from March until May or June.
 
Weather in Chowara - Wet summer’s thanks to southwest monsoon
The southwest monsoon in Chowara runs from late May to September, and is the rainiest season, seeing torrential rain. July is the wettest months with 687mm of rain. The northeast monsoon begins in late October and lasts until December, with this period seeing heavy rains and thunderstorms.
