Chiang Mai Weather – Hot, exotic and beautifully tropical
Weather conditions in Chiang Mai are always humid. As you’d expect from Thailand, which is altogether a hot and humid place! The up side? The sea is fantastically warm and, as soon as you’ve dipped your toe in the water for the first time, you’ll realise you really are in a tropical paradise. When the water’s as warm as a bath, you know you’re a long, long way from home! Take a look at our average weather chart for Chiang Mai and you’ll find maximum temperatures averaging 36C in the hottest months, March through until May. The average sunshine hours in Chiang Mai are 8-9 hours of sun a day between November and May, 4-6 between June and September, and 7 in October.    
 
Weather in Chiang Mai – The rainy season
The weather in Chiang Mai can be very wet especially between May and September, the rainy season. During May the area gets around 12cm of rain, and about the same in June. In July it gets wetter with an average of 21cm rain falling over the month. August is soggy too and September averages almost 25cm of rain over the month. But it is always hot whether or not it is raining, which helps. Temperatures very rarely fall below 13C and the lowest recorded temperature is 6C.  

Winter Weather in Chiang Mai – Warm, dry and lovely
The winter weather in Chiang Mai is always humid so if you’re not that keen on breathing air that’s as thick as soup, visit in December, January or February when the humidity is much less uncomfortable. Expect average temperatures of 28C to 30C over there while we’re battling through cold wet Christmas and New Year winds in the UK. The all time highest temperature recorded in Chiang Mai is an astounding 41C, experienced during an unusually hot April and May.
