Cha Am - Safe, lively family resort three hours from Bangkok
Cha Am is one of Thailand’s longest-established and best-loved beach resorts. Enjoyed by locals and international holiday makers alike, its proximity to Bangkok - under three hours by road - and its easy-going holiday atmosphere, make it a Thai gem. Neighbouring Hua Hin just 25 km south is Cha Am’s sister resort, and is equally popular and well equipped for beach holidays. Both resorts are situated on Thailand’s Western Gulf, heading south from Bangkok. At Cha Am there are plenty of good, budget hotels alongside top-of-the-range deluxe resort complexes. Transfer time from Bangkok airport to Cha Am is two and a half hours.

Many Cha Am hotels lead directly onto the resort’s stunning sandy beach looking out onto the Gulf of Thailand. This is the perfect beach setting for the family to relax, swim, sunbathe and partake in a wide variety of watersports. Cha Am began as a fishing village and retains some of its traditional architecture and charm. It is known to be quieter and more relaxed than some of Thailand’s bustling larger resorts. A wide range of hotel accommodation is available at both Cha Am, from super luxury resort style to great value beachfront bungalows.
Hua Hin’s equally good beach and laid-back, traditional feel, makes a great day trip. This resort been graced by Thai aristocracy since the 1920s, and boasts the grand ambience of those times.
Both Cha Am and Hua Hin offer all types of international cuisine, lively bars and plenty of evening entertainment. Keen golfers are spoilt, with several well-maintained courses dotted around the area.

From Cha Am it is easy to explore southern Thailand’s many interesting sights. Along the Western Gulf coastline, particularly heading south towards Prachuap Khiri Khan province, there are many sheltered coves and traditional fishing villages to visit.
Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, which spans 60 sq km, boasts a mountainous landscape, lush vegetation, waterfalls, caves and mangroves running down to beautiful beaches.
