The area encompasses a ridge which runs parallel to the coast, from the western side of Albufeira, and this quiet hillside region is home to many private villas. Holidays in Cerro d’Aguia – A huge choice of great sandy beaches
Whilst staying in Cerro d’Aguia, visitors can take advantage of the many gorgeous beaches found dotted along this stretch of coastline. Gale is perhaps the most well-known – a lovely sandy beach stretching for 5km along the coastline, offering lots of watersports including water-skiing, jet-skiing, parasailing and the ever-popular ‘banana boat’ rides, as well as convenient beach-bar/restaurants. Although Gale is a very popular beach, due to its’ size, it never appears too crowded. Sao Rafael is one of the most beautiful beaches in the area, with its’ unique rock formations on the sand, and another great beach found close to Cerro d’Aguia is Castelo which, with its’ intricate caves and grottoes, is a favourite for boat trips. Praia da Coelha is a picturesque coved beach, small and peaceful, with waters perfect for snorkelling. All along this stretch of coast, the sands are backed by the dramatic red sandstone cliffs, and there are some wonderful scenic walks to take along the headlands.

Just a few kilometers away lies the Old Town of Albufeira, retaining its’ charm with narrow streets and whitewashed buildings, and port with colourful fishing boats. Golfers can visit the renowned course of Salgados, located just 10 minutes away from Cerro d’Aguia.
