Beaches
With the area known for its pristine Caribbean-style beaches, from El Pasa, Playa Largo and Flamenco Beach, to one of the most spectacular stretches on the entire north coast, Playa Pilar, Caya Guillermo is a haven for holiday-makers in search of peaceful sunbathing in a truly idyllic setting.
Scuba Diving
Thanks to the amazing coral reef that runs for 400km along the coast - the second largest in the world - conditions are first-class in Caya Guillermo for scuba-diving holidays. The warm waters of the Atlantic boast excellent visibility, and a host of colourful marine life and fish to view, whilst non-divers can still experience the beauty of the deep on various snorkelling excursions.
Water Sports
As well as extensive scuba-diving and snorkelling, holidays in Caya Guillermo offers facilities for pedalo rides, windsurfing, kitesurfing, kayaking, canoeing, aqua biking and catamaran sailing. Swimming with dolphins is also a popular activity in the area.
Boat Trips & Fishing
Boat trips around Caya Guillermo include catamaran rides to nearby islands and speedboat rental, glass-bottom boat trips above the reefs, and sunset cruises. Fishing is popular, especially on the north-west coast of the island, and there are regular excursions out to catch grouper and snapper, sport fishing expeditions in search of marlin and swordfish, and trips to the local freshwater lakes and lagoons for trout.
Nature
The area is known for its stunning natural setting, with a rich and diverse interior full of lush protected vegetation, marshlands and wetlands, and offers a thrilling base for nature-lovers and bird-watchers. There are various nature walks, such as hikes through El Baga Nature Park, as well as jungle tours and cruises through the mangroves.
Sports & Leisure
Hotels have facilities for tennis, beach volleyball, basketball, table-tennis, water polo, archery, exercise classes and daily dance lessons, with mountain biking and horse riding both great ways of getting out to explore the area. Caya Guillermo also has a bowling alley. Entertainment is generally hotel-based, with bars, clubs and discos, and live shows, music and dancing each night.
Excursions
Enjoy a jungle tour, a jeep safari, a trip to a sugar mill or a scenic horse and carriage ride whilst in Caya Guillermo. The local towns of Moron and Camaguey offer a real slice of Cuban life, and trips to the colonial Trinidad or the colourful capital city, Havana, are possible.
