Holiday makers who are looking for that true desert island experience will find the beaches on Caya Largo hard to beat. This idyllic island boasts a coastline of virgin white sand beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see. The warm Caribbean Sea is perfect for water sports such as wind-surfing and diving. It is easy to find a secluded stretch of sand on beaches such as Playa Sirena, Playa Paraiso and Playa Blanca.

 

There are a number of exciting excursions to be taken from Cayo Largo. Follow in the footsteps of Hemmingway on a day tour of Havana and stop off at the colourful markets to purchase some hand crafted goods and of course Havana cigars and rum. A day trip to Trinidad should also be included on any holiday in Caya Largo if only to view the amazing architecture or visit the cigar factory.

 

Cuba has a tropical climate and is perfect and permits holiday makers to enjoy a number of water sports all year round. Kayaking, catamaran rides and pedal boats are all available at Playa Sirena. The coral reefs on the southwest of the island make this the perfect spot for snorkelling. Scuba diving is another popular option and there is a nautical equipment hire base located at Playa Sirena.

 

There is no shortage of sports in Cayo Largo For those who prefer to play their sports on dry land. Cycling and horseback riding are available on the island. Other sports include tennis, with or without an instructor, and volleyball. Aeorobics and dance lessons are also available at the island’s hotels.

 

Nightlife in Cayo Largo is a laid back affair mostly located within the island’s hotels. Beach parties and discos at the hotels are not unusual, and watching the spectacular sunsets over the Caribbean Sea while sipping a cool drink will be the perfect way to start off the evening. Hotel restaurants and bars are the place to spend the evening and shows, dancing and live music are usually provided every night.
