Holidays in Candolim
Candolim, in North Goa, is one of the most popular beach resorts in the area, quiet and relaxing, yet with plenty of amenities. Located at the southern end of the popular stretch of coastline encompassing Calangute, Baga and Anjuna, the beach resort of Candolim is more tranquil and sedate than its’ busier neighbours, and offers plenty of secluded areas for sunbathing.

Candolim Beach is a 7km stretch of white sands – a long and straight beach, backed by scrub-covered sand dunes. The sand shelves steeply into the Arabian Sea, and the beach is large enough to accommodate vast numbers of sun-worshippers without appearing crowded. There are many water-sports available on Candolim Beach, including water-skiing, wind-surfing, scuba-diving and parasailing, and fishing is a popular pastime. The local fishermen still use hand-nets, and can be seen regularly bringing in the catch of the day. Candolim has an excellent choice of accommodation, ranging from cheap guesthouses, catering to back-packers, to mid-range and luxury hotels for the package holiday-maker. Quieter and less commercial than neighbouring Calangute, Candolim is a great choice for a peaceful relaxing holiday.

Along the beach are plenty of bars and shacks, with most of the restaurants situated around the entrance to the beach. Candolim offers a great choice of places to eat, mostly  specialising in Goan cuisine and the delicious freshly caught fish and seafood, with the larger hotels serving a wide variety of international food. There is no village centre, but the road from the beach is lined with local shops selling Kashmiri and Tibetan goods.  The nightlife in Candolim is fairly relaxed and low-key, with most bars closing their doors relatively early, but livelier places can be found in Calangute and Baga. To the south of Candolim is the famous Aguda Fort, a well-preserved 17th century Portuguese fort home to several natural springs.
