Caleta de Fuste enjoys a sub-tropical climate with sun all year round with mild to warm winters and summers that don’t usually get too hot, certainly not as hot as you might expect from a port just sixty miles from the coast of Africa. Fuerteventura is the furthest east of the Canary Islands and Caleta de Fuste is on the east coast, making it a little warmer than the north of the island where the trade winds have more effect. Even so, there is a constant breeze but this helps keep sunbathers comfortable and makes life interesting for windsurfers and sailing enthusiasts.

Caleta de Fuste is an ideal winter sun location. Winter may be the rainy season here but it’s all relative – there is barely any rain at all in the summer and even the wettest month (December) receives much less than half the amount of rain that London has in July. Winter rain tends to fall in showers that are over quickly, although it can be overcast for a few days. Daily temperatures in December tend to rise to around 20-21°C, with the sea just a little cooler, and there should be around six hours of sun, making it pleasant on the beach and on the golf course.

Anyone who likes it hot and sunny should enjoy summer in Caleta de Fuste. Temperatures can rise well into the 30’s, and on rare occasions a hot, dusty air blows over from the Sahara, a phenomenon known locally as the Calima. Generally, however, the summer temperatures tend to reach an average high of around 27/28°C in July and August with the breeze keeping the humidity down and helping to ensure a comfortable night’s sleep. Caleta’s almost perfect climate, including a warm, clear sea, makes this an ideal destination at any time for those who enjoy a holiday in the sun.
