Caleta de Fuste Things To Do

things to do in caleta de fuste

Beaches
Caleta de Fuste’s horseshoe-shaped bay features a wonderful sandy beach. The soft golden and slopes down gently into clear waters making it ideal for paddling and swimming and there are rock pools to keep youngsters amused. Many visitors don’t leave Caleta, but those who do explore will find plenty of other excellent beaches – the island has around 150 – including nature parks with miles of dunes, secluded coves, surfing beaches and naturist beaches.

Water sports
All kinds of water sports are available here - including wind-surfing, scuba diving, snorkelling and jet skiing - and equipment can easily be hired. All skill levels are welcome and the warm, clear water makes Caleta the ideal place to take up a new sport.

Golf
The sport is really taking off on Fuerteventura with a number of new courses currently under construction. Of the existing courses, Caleta De Fuste Golf, which hosted the Spanish Open in 2004, is a challenging course taking in three lakes, this has all the facilities you could wish for including a 50-bay driving range, practice greens, a large pro-shop, a swimming pool, a gym, and a number of bars, cafeterias and restaurants.

Other activities
There’s plenty for everyone here with a choice of camel or cycle rides, tennis courts or ten pin bowling, quad bikes or hikes along the coastal paths, or fishing from the rocks. Or you could just relax and be pampered at the thalasotherapy centre with its warm water treatments, Jacuzzi, bubble beds, sauna and Turkish baths.

Boat trips and fishing
Trips can be booked from the harbour in a glass-bottomed boat or even a submarine. Boats regularly go out whale and dolphin watching – and there may be a chance to swim with the dolphins. The currents and deep volcanic sea beds make this one of the world’s great sea-fishing spots with marlin, swordfish and many other species found here.

Exploring the island
Fuerteventura is excellent for exploring on foot, by bicycle, or on horseback, although it’s tempting to hire a car just because the roads are quiet. If you want to go off-road, it’s well worth joining a jeep safari with the benefit of a guide who really knows the island and can take you to The Malpais (Badlands), the lagoons and the rugged west of the island. For sheer beauty it’s hard to beat Betancuria, with its Natural Park, and Pico de Betancuria offering splendid views, and the charming village itself, once the island’s capital.

Nightlife
Hotels have their own entertainment, which is usually family oriented, but there is much more including a great variety of restaurants, bars of every kind and clubs where it’s possible to dance into the early hours.
