Calella de la Costa Holidays – Lively Costa Brava beach resort
Holidays in Calella de la Costa are based in the most popular beach resort on the Costa del Maresme at the southern end of the Costa Brava, 10 miles south of Lloret de Mar, 31 miles from Gerona airport and just 44 miles north east of Barcelona. Calella offers all the facilities, beach life and nightlife you would expect from a major Costa Brava resort and has proved consistently popular with British visitors. Breaks in Calella enjoy a vibrant youthful atmosphere, attract a cosmopolitan crowd, and are especially popular with families. Calella offers something for all ages, with plenty of well organised beach activities and open-air family entertainment, and a busy lively nightlife scene with no shortage of animated bars and discos.

Calella Holidays – An excellent long broad stretch of sand

Calella breaks very much focus on Calella beach, considered one of the finest in the region. Calella beach is an excellent broad stretch of sand spacious enough to cope with its deserved popularity. The three Calella beaches, Gran de Calella, Garbi and Les Roques, have small open-air kiosks serving refreshments and stretch for around two miles alongside an attractive seafront promenade. Calella provides good facilities for watersports including windsurfing and canoeing. Calella daytrips could include cliff walks and exploration of the rugged Costa Brava coastline. Aside from Calella beach, the other centre of Calella holidays is the attractive old town with its jumble of narrow streets and whitewashed houses and the pleasant square of Placa de l’Esglesia. There is good shopping in the boutiques of the pedestrianised main streets and a generous selection of cafés, bars and restaurants. Calella nightlife is pretty lively too, and is focused around the southern end of the resort.

Holidays in Calella de la Costa – Visit Gerona and Barcelona

Calella visitors can make use of a minitrain for getting around the resort while regular coast trains are an excellent way of visiting other Costa Brava beaches. Buses run north to the immensely popular resort of Lloret de Mar. Calella offers dozens of excursions, with children well-catered for at Waterworld, the dolphinarium at Blanes and the exciting Port Aventura theme park. Breaks in Calella could also include first rate golf. Other worthwhile Calella excursions include the monastery at Montserrat and the lovely medieval walled centre of Gerona. Trains are a superb and economical way to visit the fabulous city of Barcelona and local ferries run along the coast to Tossa de Mar.
