Holidays in Cala Ratjada Cala Ratjada, located in the Capdepera district on the north eastern corner of Majorca, is a lively place which has grown from a little fishing village into a well-established resort. Meaning ‘The Bay of Rays’, Cala Ratjada has been awarded the Blue Flag by the European Union for its’ clean water and beaches, and is relatively undiscovered by the British market, being more of a favourite with German tourists. Cala Ratjada is a 90 minute transfer from Palma, and ideally placed to explore the picturesque villages and coves around the area. From October to April, Cala Ratjada is popular with the older generation, who come to escape the cold and enjoy the winter sunshine.
Holidays in Cala Ratjada – A choice of sandy beaches Cala Ratjada, sitting on a rocky peninsula in northeastern Majorca, has a jagged coastline, dotted with lots of small sandy beaches. The main town beach, Son Moll, is fairly small and narrow, and can get quite crowded, but there are plenty of larger quieter sandy beaches a little further north. There is a connection from the town to the lovely beach at Cala Agulla, and Cala Mesquida, one of the best around with long sweeping sand dunes, great for children, is just 8km away. The original harbour still exists in Cala Ratjada, with a promenade leading down to it, and there are many shops in town offering a wide range of goods and souvenirs. Cala Ratjada has a huge selection of over 40 hotels to choose from, ranging from 2 star to 5 star, many with excellent family facilities, and a wide variety of self-catering apartments for those looking for a more inexpensive option.
Cala Ratjada Holidays – Exciting nightlife Cala Ratjada offers some fairly lively nightlife, with plenty of bars, clubs and discos staying open well into the early hours. There is a huge choice of restaurants, offering all kinds of cuisine and catering to all types of tastes. Cala Ratjada offers a wide range of activities, from water sports and golf, to beach walks, hikes and horse-riding. Cala Ratjada is the closest point on the island to neighbouring Menorca, and it’s possible to take the hydrofoil over to Cuitadella for a daytrip.
