Natural Park and Bird Watching
Cabo De Gata is famous for its Natural Park created in 1987, which covers 38,000 hectares of dry land and 12,000 hectares of under water land. Cabo De Gata has a large variety of birds in its natural parks.
Casas Cuevas (cave houses)
Dug out of the soft sand-coloured cliffs are the curious dwellings which are called Casas Cuevas (cave houses).These caves insulate desert like heat. The most famous and interesting caves are in Barrio de Chanca, Alhabia, Gádor and Benahadux. This can be an interesting place to spend an afternoon.
Historic places
There is a castle built by Khalifa Abdh-ur-Rehman III in the 10th century known as the Alcazaba. Once it offered shelter to 20,000 people and in 1522 a part of this castle was destroyed by earthquake, only to be restored in the 1950’s.
Golfing Paradise
There are seven top class golf courses in Cabo De Gata and visitors can even play on a desert course that is a unique experience. Tourists who like golf can spend holidays playing in sunny days in Cabo De Gata. Two popular golf courses of Cabo De Gata are Marina Golf course and the Desert Springs Golf club.
Stunning Beaches and Water Sports
San Miguel de Levante Beach, San Miguel de Poniente Beach, La Garrofa Beach, San Telmo Beach and Las Olas Beach are Cabo De Gata's most famous beaches. Some of the beaches of Cabo De Gata have black sand that makes a stunning view with crystal clear waters. Wind surfing, scuba diving, snorkelling and sunbathing can all be enjoyed on these beaches.
Discovering On foot
Cabo De Gata is an unspoiled paradise and the best way to discover it is by walking. It is a fact that many beautiful parts of Cabo De Gata are only seen and reached on foot. The routs go through sand dunes, secluded coves, rocky cliffs and salt flats. All year round sunshine and dry weather make Cabo De Gata ideal for walking and trekking.
