Weather in Cabarete - Tropical climate on the Dominican Republic's north coast
Cabarete lies on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic, 20km east of the airport and 40km from Puerto Plata. Sitting on the Atlantic Ocean, the resort has developed into a major centre for kiteboarding, windsurfing and surfing, thanks to the unique wind and wave conditions seen in the bay. The climate in Cabarete is tropical, with constant sunshine and an average annual temperature of 28C.

A major sporting centre, Cabarete is known for its exceptional wind and wave conditions, and enjoys a near-constant water temperature of around 27C all year round. The combination of having a sheltered bay, an offshore reef, low-lying hills and trade winds coming in from the east, Cabarete has outstanding conditions for kiteboarding and windsurfing, with the resort hosting a number of international competitions throughout the year. The best months for wind sports are between June and August, when the wind is the strongest.
Weather in Cabarete - Sunny dry winters, pleasant trade winds
Winters see the best conditions for a beach holiday in Cabarete, with January to March seeing pleasant highs of between 25C and 27C, and rainfall averaging between 10-20cm. The higher temperatures in the summer in Cabarete can reach 31C, with the rainfall dipping to 5cm, and the ever-present trade winds serving to temper the humidity. The rainy season in Cabarete is from October to early January, with December seeing the most precipitation, often up to 30cm, and tropical showers generally being heavy but short-lived. Calabrete's hurricane season runs from August to October, and although the storms can be unpredictable and do pass through the area, the resort is not directly in any tropical storm paths.
