Cabarete Things To Do

Kiteboarding
The resort is a famous kiteboarding centre, considered one of the best in the world, and boasts first-class conditions for the sport, thanks to the unique winds and waves found here in the bay. There are no less than 10 kiteboarding schools in Cabarete, offering tuition for all levels, and the resort is a regular host of the World Kiteboarding Championships every year.

Windsurfing and surfing
As well as kiteboarding, conditions are perfect for surfing, windsurfing and sailing too, with many enthusiasts flocking to the resort with its protected bay and year-round winds and sunshine. Cabarete also hosts Cabarete Race Week each June.

Water sports
The bay is 2km wide with a flat sandy bottom, and, as well as being a perfect spot for sunbathing, swimming and watching the kiteboarders and surfers, is and a great place to try the other various water sports on offer. Choose from sailing, wakeboarding, body boarding, jet skiing, water skiing and kayaking, or rent paddle ball and snorkelling equipment on the beach.

Scuba diving

Sports
Away from the beach, visitors can take advantage of the many tracks and mule trails through the Dominican Republic countryside and mountains, whilst hiking, mountain biking, horse riding or dirt biking. Paragliding, waterfall climbing, cannoning and caving is also available in Cabarete, with tennis courts located in many hotels.

Golf
A local course just outside Cabarete offers golfers the chance for 9 holes in the sunshine, whilst two 18-hole courses can be found less than an hour away, at Playa Dorada and Playa Grande, with all offering good value for money and tropical scenery.

Day trips include glass bottomed boat rides along the coast, jungle river cruises, visits to the El Choco National Park and whale watching tours (January to March only). Cabarete is also close to a Water Park, go-carting track and Ocean and Marine Park, and the cities of Puerto Plata and Santiago are fun to visit.
