C’an Picafort, on the north east coast of Majorca, offers a quiet relaxing base, perfect for families and couples. Since its’ development in the 1960’s, C’an Picafort has grown from a charming fishing village into a well-established resort, and is a favourite with tourists from all over Europe, especially Germans. Sitting on the eastern side of the Bay of Alcudia, C’an Picafort boasts a lovely sandy beach, and the surrounding pine-clad hillsides offer some beautifully scenic landscapes.

There are 2 main beaches, found in the modern San Baulo region of the resort and running for 2km along the coast, with clean waters and soft sand, and facilities such as sun loungers, parasols and some water-sports available. The beaches, with gentle inclines into the sea, offer a safe fun environment for families, and are backed by a pedestrian promenade. The promenade links the beach area to the original fishing harbour, and behind this lies the narrow winding streets of the town centre, with plenty of shops and cafes to linger in. Boat trips around the bay are offered from the marina and there are plenty of bars and restaurants lining the harbour. San Baulo is also home to a protected nature reserve beside the beach, where tortoises, rabbits, hares and hedgehogs can be seen.

C’an Picafort is an ideal resort for those who are seeking a peaceful relaxing resort, and can appreciate the natural beauty of the surrounding area. The nightlife is quiet, low-key and mainly hotel-based, perfectly suited to families, however C’an Picafort is home to plenty of restaurants offering a wide range of cuisine, and some friendly bars making the streets come alive at night. C’an Picafort is only 9km from the old town of Alcudia, with its’ historic city walls and warren of narrow streets, and the beach resort, which offers a water-park, lively fishing port and traditional Friday market. The bird sanctuary of S’Albufera Park is close by and a popular attraction in the area, and the famous Caves of Drach are within reach.
