Bubion Things To Do

Located in the stunning Las Alpujarras region on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada, Bubion offers a tranquil alternative to the usual Costa del Sol holiday. Dramatically positioned at 1,350m, the sleepy village is ideally situated for a peaceful relaxing break, with its idyllic setting amongst wooded valleys, fields of orange, lemon and quince trees, and rolling pine forests boasting spectacular views.

 

With its wealth of unspoilt countryside, Bubion is a haven for nature-lovers and ornithologists, with the rural area home to an array of wildlife, including wild boar, deer, mountain goats and sheep, and birds such as eagles and hoopoe.  

 

The breathtaking setting of Las Alpujarras boasts a host of marked trails and routes, and offers something for every level of walker and hiker. There are quiet country strolls and rambles, as well as high-altitude mountain treks, including the famous GR7 long distance route.

A popular destination for mountain bikers, there's plenty of terrain for the more experienced cyclist to explore, whether it's along the flat roads, steep mountain trails or off-road tracks of the area. Guided and organised group rides are available. 

 

An ideal way to take in the beauty of the Andalusian countryside is on horseback, with everything from gentle treks to strenuous day-long excursions available for all level of rider.

 

The peaceful Spanish countryside is the ideal setting for learning a new skill, with classes in pottery, painting, drawing and guitar playing offered in the area.

As well as walking, cycling, and horse riding, Bubion offers paragliding, canyoning and rock-climbing.

Open from November to April, the Sierra Nevada mountain ski area lies about an hour and a half from Bubion and boasts 60km of ski trails, with terrain for all level of skier.  

 

Other charming mountain villages to tour include Pitres, Mecina, Trevelez and Yegen, as well as the spa town of Lanjaron. Don't miss a trip to the historic city of Granada, with its famous Alhambra.
