British Airways has reported a decline in traffic during the month of April. The chaotic opening of Terminal 5 at Heathrow combined with difficult market conditions resulted in a 7% decrease in passenger numbers from April 2007.
Heathrow's Terminal 5 opened for business today as the first passengers arrived from Hong Kong. The British Airways flight arrived eight minutes early, landing at 4.42am and was captained by the first BA female pilot Lynn Barton. Following this arrival, the first departure was a flight to Paris scheduled for 6.20am.
British Airways has unveiled its flight schedule for summer 2008 with a selection of new routes from Gatwick Airport.
British Airways is currently preparing for the first passenger service arrival of an Airbus A380 into a UK airport tomorrow. The A380 is due to land at tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday), at 15:15 and will be operated by Singapore airlines.

The Queen has today officially opened the new Heathrow Terminal Five building despite a security breach less than 24 hours ago, when an intruder ran onto a runway at the London airport. The terminal, which is expected to cater for up to 30 million passengers a year at a cost of £4.3 billion, will be open for business on 27th March.
British Airways has been named as one of the worst airlines in Europe for dealing with delayed baggage, according to a report from European Airlines. The data suggests that 26.5 bags were delayed per 1,000 passengers on British Airways flights in 2007, compared to 23, per 1,000 passengers in 2006.
Heathrow’s new Terminal 5 will open in March, standing five times the size of Terminal 4 and costing £4.3 billion. As the biggest operator at Heathrow, British Airways, with its exclusive use of Terminal 5 has contributed £330 million of that total figure.

British Airways aims to limit its impact on climate change with a host of new projects including a new carbon offset scheme, a public backing for deforestation prevention in Brazil and a detailed level of research into the effects of non-carbon emissions on the environment.
British Airways is to end the deal which lends its name to the London Eye. British Airways originally owned one third of the shares in the London Eye, but sold its share to the Tussauds Group in 2005 and at the same time, signed a deal to continue to sponsor the world-famous attraction in name only. However, British Airways have since confirmed that their “sponsorship priorities have changed,".
British Airways has secured a deal worth £2.2 billion for eight Boeing 787-8 and 16 787-9 Dreamliners as well as additional options for 18 787s and purchase rights for an additional 10. Details of when the aircraft will be delivered were not disclosed; however the 787 Dreamliner will not commence passenger services for any airline until May 2008.
