Weather in Bridgetown
Situated on the southwest coast of the tropical island of Barbados, Bridgetown is sheltered from the prevailing trade winds that blow in from the northeast. The sun shines down on the town and its pleasant beaches for eight or nine hours and the temperature rises to somewhere near 30°C almost every day. The waters around Bridgetown and the Platinum Coast are calm and the sea temperature never falls below 25°C. The weather is perfect for those who want to relax and adjust to the island’s laid-back attitude, whether enjoying the benefits of a city – such as shopping, culture, restaurants and nightlife – or the beautiful white sandy beaches.

Bridgetown weather - Ideal for a winter sun holiday
With the temperatures being so consistent all-year round, there are only really two seasons in Bridgetown: the dry season from December to May, making it an ideal winter sun destination, and the wet season from June to November. Both seasons enjoy plenty of sunshine. Temperatures don’t usually fall below 21-23°C in the evenings, although it can feel cooler after the hot day and it’s a good idea to take a sweater along – at least for anyone not dancing. The humidity does creep up from May onwards, but Barbados is not a large island and if it becomes uncomfortable it’s easy enough to escape to the hills or another coast that isn’t sheltered from the trade winds.

Weather in Bridgetown - A tropical resort with sunshine and calypso all year
Although high season in Bridgetown is from mid-December to mid-April when there is little rain and humidity is lower, many people choose to visit at other times. Hurricane Season is officially June 1 to October 31, but the worst weather tends to hit further west. Rain in Bridgetown is sometimes heavy but is almost always over quickly, and the water soon drains away from the hot streets leaving the city looking refreshed and the sun shining once more. The rain certainly doesn’t prevent the islanders from enjoying the picnics, street ‘jump-ups’, live bands and hot calypso that make up the five-week long party that is the Crop Over festival in July and August.
