The capital of La Palma is just 3km from Brena Baja, so the busy centre of Santa Cruz, with its’ cosy tapas bars, lively port and charming streets lined with palm trees, is a 5 minute trip by car. A trip to the capital is a must for culture lovers, as Santa Cruz has some interesting 16th century architecture, great art collections, beautiful churches and interesting museums. The mountainous regions of Brena Baja are great for hiking, and there are footpaths throughout the area for those looking for scenic walks. Throughout La Palma, there are some great sights to see including the prehistoric caves of Mazo, and some areas of stunning natural beauty, in particular the national park, La Caldera de Taburiente, and the forests of El Canal y Los Tiles.
