Boat Trips
Sailing the gorgeous Aegean is a must. Bodrum boat trips include romantic yacht cruises and well-regarded Blue Cruises to Marmaris. Rent a boat from the marina or simply take a ferry. Bodrum ferries sail for the Datca Peninsula and the Greek islands of Rhodes and Kos.

Watersports & Diving
The calm, warm Aegean is ideal for watersports, with excellent conditions for beginners. Bodrum watersports include windsurfing, water skiing, parasailing, snorkelling, jet skis and river rafting on the Dalaman River. Bodrum dive schools offer excellent tuition for beginners and rewarding diving for more advanced levels. The PADI Askin Dive Center offers professional instruction and is particularly good on underwater archaeology.

Beaches
The Bodrum Peninsula offers a splendid variety of easily accessible beaches for beach lovers. Try lively resorts like Gumbet and Bitez, and easy-going Gumusluk. Visit fine beaches at Karaincir, Turgetreis, and Akyarlar, and the turtle beach at Dalyan.

Nightlife
Bodrum bars and discos are enjoyably lively in the peak summer months. Bodrum offers a particularly diverse choice of nightlife, ranging from fun music bars to stylish, late-night clubs. No dedicated clubbing fan should miss out on the open-air Halicarnassus Disco.

Shopping
The traditional bazaar is an atmospheric, colourful way to shop for leather goods, jewellery, silverware, carpets and rugs. Watch carpet weavers at work in Milas.

Ancient Sites
You could easily spend a week visiting the region’s historic sites. Bodrum boasts medieval Bodrum Castle with its fine museum of underwater archaeology, and the beautifully restored amphitheatre, which still hosts live entertainment, particularly in Bodrum festival in September. Worthwhile Bodrum excursions include the ancient city of Priene, the wonderful theatre of Miletus, the Temple of Apollo at Didyma, and the ancient city of Ephesus.

Meze & Traditional Villages
The best place to sample traditional Turkish meze is a small old-fashioned tavern in a country village or quieter Bodrum beach resort. The beautiful interior of the Bodrum peninsula is dotted with charming, unspoilt traditional villages with a delightfully sleepy atmosphere.

Walking & Horse Riding
Superb spring and autumn weather is ideal for walking in the scenic Bodrum region. The Hayvansaray Horse Riding Centre offers tuition for beginners and children, qualified English-speaking staff and an idyllic valley setting.

Jeep Safaris
Off-road Bodrum jeeps safaris are a popular way to explore lesser-known parts of the region.
