Bocca dell'Oro Things To Do

Beaches
Beaches close to Bocca dell'Oro include Palombaggia, one of the best on the island, with its long curve of sand, almost Caribbean-like turquoise waters and cosy beachfront restaurants, as well as Santa Giulia Beach, Rondinara and Roccapina.

Water Sports
Jet skiing, windsurfing, kayaking, kite surfing, sailing, scuba diving and snorkelling are all available at the beaches in the area, with windsurfing especially popular in nearby Bonifacio, thanks to the region's strong winds.

Boat Trips
There's a huge choice of scenic boat trips that travel along the stunning coastline, and head to hidden coves and secluded grottoes that dot the shoreline. Boats depart from the ports at Bonifacio and Porto Vecchio, with private yacht charter available, and popular day trips include sailing out to the Lavezzi Islands Nature Reserve.

Golf
Golfers in Bocca dell'Oro don't have far to travel for a round on the island's only golf course - Sperone Golf Course, in Bonifacio, offers 18-hole course in a stunning location overlooking the Mediterranean.

Walking & Hiking
The rugged and dramatic coastline of Corsica is a haven for walkers, from those looking for casual strolls to the serious hiker. The region around Bocca dell'Orra offers a selection of trails and mule tracks to follow, with walkers able to discover sleepy hilltop towns whilst passing through fragrant chestnut forests, or follow one of the tiny cliff top paths affording stunning coastal views.

Biking
The area is also a popular road and mountain biking destination, with the tracks and trails ideal for more experienced riders looking for challenging terrain, paired with scenic landscapes and breathtaking coastal views. For serious bikers, a number or companies offer guided trips and rides of varying lengths and difficulties.

Nature Parks
The lush Ospedale Forest lies just above Porto Vecchio and has some scenic beauty spots, whilst Col de Bavella boasts many spectacular sights in its forest, such as the famous Bavella Needles - unique granite spikes rising from the ground.

Sports
Horse riding is a popular activity in Corsica, and there are many tennis courts in and around the area. Canyoning trips - travelling along creeks and streams, by abseiling and swimming - are also available, with other adventure sports on offer including paragliding, hang-gliding and parachute jumping.

Local Area
Porto Vecchio is easily reached from Bocca dell'Oro, and this distinctly French harbour town with its Genoese history displays a stylish flair in its charming boutiques, cafes and bars. There's a quaint Old Town to stroll around, and it's a delight to explore the narrow little streets and view the authentic stone buildings within the Citadel's ramparts. Bonafacio, located at the top of limestone cliffs on the southern tip of the island, is another very picturesque and historic harbour town, ideal for day trips.
