Blue Flag Beaches – The best beaches in Spain and Greece
At present there 2,642 Blue Flag beaches dotted over the world and with nearly 500 Blue Flag beaches, Spain hits the top of the list. Burriana Beach near Nerja has one of the best Blue Flag beaches and is typical of the many excellent Spanish beaches. As you would expect the Blue Flag beaches of Greece are also near the top of the list. Kefalonia has some of the best unspoilt beaches available but there is a high density of Blue Flag beaches dotted over the Greek Islands.

Among the new comers in the Blue Flag beach awards are Promorie North in Bulgaria and Zlatni Rat on Brac Island, Croatia. Croatia has 94 Blue Flags and Zlatni Rat, or the Golden Horn is one of the finest examples of a Blue Flag beach. The Canary and Balearic Islands are unsurprisingly home to a large number of Blue Flag beaches and some of the best can be found in Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.
