Bentota Weather

Bentota boasts hot weather and high levels of sunshine all year round with a tropical climate that is stable throughout the year. The only noticeable difference in the seasons will be the amount of rainfall. The south of Sri Lanka does generally benefit from higher temperatures than the north and the average temperature in Bentota is 27C. Most months in Bentota will see temperatures of around 30C and above, and thanks to the excellent climate there is no off season. Hot sunny days are the norm even during the monsoon season, and the sun will be shining down on the beaches for around seven hours per day.

 

Although Bentota is regarded as a tropical destination with fabulous beaches it does have rainy periods. May through to July is the main rainy season in Bentota but the rain will generally be very brief and will not dampen the temperatures. There is much sunshine to be enjoyed in Bentota even during the monsoon season. In most cases the short rain bursts will bring the temperatures down slightly before the sun comes out to quickly dry up the rain. July and August will see a lull in rainfall and temperatures will hover around the 30C mark with holiday makers enjoying around six hours of sunshine per day.

 

January through to March is a particularly popular period for holidays in Bentota. The temperatures will rise above the 30C mark and sunshine levels will increase to around nine hours per day. Although the temperatures will be higher the humidity will be lower making the heat more manageable. There will be little rainfall during this period and the Indian Ocean will be the perfect temperature for swimming and diving. Bentota is a resort with an abundance of sunshine all year round and even the rain will not spoil a holiday in this oasis of a resort.
