Benitses Holidays– Slowly reverting to its quieter past. Benitses is a former fishing village set amidst wooded hills on the east coast of Corfu, 8 miles from the capital, Corfu Town, and facing the Greek mainland. A Benitses holiday now offers something of a quieter more relaxed atmosphere than the holidays to Benitses that were common in the eighties when Benitses was a popular youth beach resort. Benitses is now a relatively quiet resort shrugging off its more hectic past, and a holiday in Benitses now tends to appeal to couples.
Holidays to Benitses – Retains some of its fishing village identity Benitses retains more traditional village architecture than many other Corfu resorts. Benitses has whitewashed houses decked in flowers and there are still local Benitses fishermen working from the pedestrianised harbour. The Roman villa and baths in Benitses are evidence of the past importance of the village.
Benitses beach – Sparkling, clear, clean water Benitses beach, or rather beaches, are a mix of pebbles, shingle and a little sand. The beach here in Benitses tends to slope quickly to the sea which is impeccably clean and has been awarded an EU blue flag in recognition of its quality. Benitses beach has a good variety of water sports. Jetties and platforms have been built for swimmers. The water in Benitses is exceptionally clear. A holiday in Benitses offers boat trips from the new harbour and excursions to nearby Corfu Town which is regularly served by public transport. Other trips from Benitses might include nearby Pontikonisi and the Achillion Palace or further afield to the south of Corfu.
