benidormThe Spanish resort of Benidorm is has received high praise from a leading Geography Professor who believes the site should be recognised in the same vein as Stonehenge , the Acropolis and the Taj Mahal.

Professor Philipe Duhamel, of the University of Angers in France said: "Benidorm is the Dubai of Europe. It is unique in Europe, is known worldwide and is a remarkable site for what is understood by mass tourism.

"For many years everybody spoke badly of Benidorm, but with time it has gained value, as has happened in other examples of architectural world heritage."

Professor Duhamel was speaking at the 12th International Benidorm Tourism Forum to a number of industry professionals and Manuel Perez Fenoll, the mayor of Benidorm. The Mayor was particularly pleased with the positive comments from Duhamel and stated, "After many years of misunderstanding, there are now experts who recognise the Benidorm model”.

The lively Costa Blanca resort is a haven for both families and young people alike who look to make the most of the high concentration of bars and clubs.
