Benidorm, located on the Costa Blanca on the east coast of Spain, is the largest and liveliest resort in the area, attracting a million British visitors every year. Although tourism has taken away a lot of the resorts’ Spanish identity, Benidorm still offers everything that tourists require on a package holiday and is blessed with fantastic sandy beaches, an amazing array of entertainment and a wealth of accommodation choices. The wonderful sandy crescent-shaped beaches of Benidorm cover a 5km stretch and are known as some of the cleanest and most popular in Europe. The main beach at Benidorm is Playa de Levante, ‘the sunrise beach’, located on the eastern side of the resort, and with its’ fine white sands and clear waters backed by numerous cafes and shops, the beach is a huge draw to all visitors. A smaller less crowded beach, Playa de Poniente, can be found in the west of Benidorm by the old town centre, offering a slightly more peaceful atmosphere and a wonderful sunset at the end of the day (Playa de Poniente translates to ‘the sunset beach’). A little sandy cove, Mal Pas, lies by the port and is the departure point for the many boat trips that are available in Benidorm. There are plenty of watersports to choose from whilst holidaying in Benidorm, including jet-skiing, water-skiing, parasailing and scuba-diving, and behind the beach sits the promenade - a lively stretch of tourist shops, bars, cafes and restaurants and a huge selection of high-rise hotels and apartments.

Quiz nights, karaoke, bingo and live shows can all be found in Benidorm, and for an authentic Spanish flavour, Flamenco dancing and bull-fighting can be seen in the resort. Benidorm is well-known for its’ vibrant nightlife scene, with countless bars, clubs and bars open all night long, ranging from English pubs to trendy clubs such as Pacha and Ku. Typical British food can be found all over Benidorm, from fish and chips to a home-cooked Sunday roast, and for those looking for more traditional Spanish food, the old harbour has a good choice of tapas bars. Many childrens’ activities can be found through the hotels in Benidorm, and popular family days out include Aqualandia, one of the largest waterparks in Europe, Mundomar, a marine park, and Terra Mitica, Spains’ largest theme park.
