Benaojan Weather

Situated in the deep south of Spain, Benoajan enjoys a sunny Mediterranean type climate that provides holiday opportunities all year round. It receives a great deal of sunshine throughout the year and yet does not suffer the baking hot summer temperatures often experienced on the Costa del Sol. This is purely due to its high elevation in the mountains of Sierra de Libar, one of the most rugged areas in Andalucia. Benaojan weather offers pleasantly warm summer temperatures and crisp sunshine and although its winter climate can be unpredictable, it still enjoys a great deal of sun with warm temperatures. The winning combination of gorgeous views, spectacular nature on the doorstep and above all, clean and fresh air makes a holiday in Benaojan such a relaxing pleasure.

 

The high altitude and unique atmospheric conditions created in the mountains results in a significantly cooler climate than that found at sea level in Southern Spain. It can still feel very hot on occasion during summer when the period of June through August will see very little rainfall. Temperatures are likely to reach 23c on average with the sun shining for 9 hours each day. This bright sunshine and cloudless skies ensure wonderful vistas of the Andalucian countryside for miles around. However unsettled summer weather in Benaojan is possible with light drizzly rain and mist and temperatures can fall sharply, especially in the evening. 

 

A holiday in Benaojan during winter should not be discounted as it still enjoys a great deal of dry weather and mild sunshine. While daily sunshine hours are greatly reduced, temperatures are surprisingly good for its altitude. It is well protected from the coldest weather fronts by the surrounding mountains although this position brings with it many days of mist and light rain. Winter weather in Benoajan sees temperatures of 10c rising to 15c in March with 4 or 5 hours of sunshine. Long periods of fine weather are not uncommon allowing for rewarding hiking and outdoor sports. Its elevation is low enough to escape extreme cold weather although strong winds will feel chilly. The wettest period is in January and February when showers can last for several hours.
