Benalmadena Weather

Benalmadena lies on the Costa del Sol, just 19km from Malaga, and sits between the major resorts of Torremolinos and Fuengirola. With its location on the Sunshine Coast, the resort sees enviable weather conditions, enjoying a typically-Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers and mild winters. Benalmadena sees an average of 330 days of sunshine each year, and experiences an average annual temperature of 21C.

 

Most visitors head to Benalmadena during the summer months, when the weather heats up and conditions are ideal for a fun-filled beach holiday. June sees average highs of 26C and as many as 11 hours of sun each day, whilst July and August often experience highs of 30C, and an increased humidity level. The coastal breezes help to temper the heat, and the water temperature during this time is a very pleasant 22C - 23C. Rainfall is virtually non-existent in the summer, with June to September seeing around 18mm each month. These peak season months in the Costa del Sol can be too hot for some, with Benalmadena welcoming many visitors during the spring and autumn months, when temperatures drop to around 17C - 22C, and the resort still sees 7 hours of sunshine each day. Conditions during these cooler low season months are ideal for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling and horse riding, and for sightseeing and touring the Costa del Sol.

 

Winters in Benalmadena remain mild, with increased rainfall. Temperatures drop to 15C in December and January, the coldest months, however the resort still sees a minimum of 5 hours of sunshine each day, and this is a popular time for golfers to visit.
