Weather in Benahavis - Mountain town, hotter than the coastal resorts
The mountain town of Benahavis lies on the southern slopes of the Sierra Ronda Mountains in western Costa del Sol, just west of Marbella. Benahavis enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with hot dry summers and very mild winters. It is situated just 7km from the coast, and is an ideal location for those looking for the unique combination of beaches and beautiful Andalusian countryside. Being located inland, the temperature in Benahavis is a little hotter than down on the beach resorts, as it does not get the benefits of the cooling coastal winds.

Most visitors come to the region to bask in the famous Sunshine in Spain, and the mountain town of Benahavis sees an average of 320 days of sun each year and an average summer temperature of 23C. The Costa del Sol is a year-round destination but sees very busy summers, with average temperatures during the peak season months of July and August being around 24C, and some days seeing highs up in the mid-30's. Summers are very dry, with virtually no rainfall from June to September. The spring and autumn months are a popular time to visit for those looking to get out and explore the countryside, with May and June seeing temperatures of 18C-22C, with 8-10 hours of sunshine each day.

Winters are mild in Benahavis, with an average winter temperature of 12C and 5 hours of sunshine even in December and January, ideal for sightseeing and rounds of golf. The coldest month is January, when the temperature only dips to 11C, with December being the wettest month seeing 139mm of rainfall.
